About Us
Fugen Designs started as the idea of Kevin McGough, Cheif
instructor of Kohala Aikikai, on the Big Island of Hawaii. The idea
was to create a business to sell handmade products made by aikidoka for
aikidoka, where a portion of the proceeds would go back to the aikido
community, specifically children's programs, to enable children to have a
broader aikido learning opportunity.
The idea
was taken up by his daughter and student, Hollie Kunishige, who now runs
this site, and in collaboration with many others, creates the products
available in our store.
We are
starting small, but plan to continue to expand our offerings on a regular
basis. Part of our goal is to help other aikidoka with an idea or
product, but without the resources or or time to sell it. If you have a product you would like to get out to the larger
aikido community, please contact us about selling it here.
We want to create a place where other aikidoka can come and shop for unique,
quality aikido products in a centralized area.
We also want to create a hub of information on what is going on in the
aikido world, and to that end, we have added a calendar to our site to list
events where all aikidoka are welcome. If you have an event you'd like
